Mud Architecture Process

I completed an artist-in-residence program at Greenwich House Pottery (GHP) in New York City. My work at GHP explored surface design while creating a series of 25 hand-built vessels inspired by mud house designs found in West Africa. Each vessel is unique in shape and pattern. I channeled traditional practices in hand building and surface decoration. The coiling technique, hand carving, and drawing processes are all accomplished with minimal tools and no preset patterns.
